Oral mucosa

The oral mucosa is the mucous membrane lining inside the mouth, which includes the cheeks and lips.

It should not be confused with saliva, which is the primary secretion of the oral mucosa.

When someone consumes nicotine through a nicotine pouch or snus placed in the mouth, the nicotine and flavors are absorbed through the oral mucosa.
