Osman's sister quit with his support
00:00
You know you can tell everybody until you’re blue in the face,
00:02
but the person needs to have the willpower.
00:06
My name is Osman, I am 33 years old
00:09
I live in London and I helped my sister unsmoke six years ago.
00:11
I was brought up around people who smoke.
00:15
My family were all smokers.
00:17
The smell in the morning, when I used to wake up
00:20
I think that was kind of like, you know, enough for me to just not want to start it.
00:23
At the time, I remember having talks with my sister to stop smoking.
00:28
Because not just my sister, anyone you care about,
00:32
you should want them to stop smoking.
00:34
I’m younger than you, I don’t smoke,
00:36
you know, you should lead by example, maybe not smoke as well.
00:38
I could see that she kind of took it on board.
00:45
She found it very hard so we fully rallied and supported her.
00:47
One evening, we were having dinner in a restaurant.
00:50
Being a nonsmoker, I just went outside to say, oh yes, you’re still smoking.
00:56
She said, yeah, I know, I want to give up, I want to give up.
00:58
And then the following week, she came and saw me
01:03
and she said, guess what? No cigarettes.
01:05
I was very happy, very happy.
01:09
She herself had the willpower and that, I think, is the biggest motivation
01:12
To just not give up and just to try and come out of the tunnel, you know.
