Alternatives to smoking

Philip Morris International’s smoke-free products do not involve burning, but have the nicotine and taste that can satisfy adult smokers.

Since there is no combustion and no smoke, our smoke-free products can deliver significantly lower levels of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than found in cigarette smoke, making the products better alternatives for adults to continued smoking. They are not risk-free and provide nicotine which is addictive.

The heat-not-burn product category heats tobacco to generate a flavorful nicotine-containing vapor while significantly reducing the levels of harmful chemicals in the vapor. E-vapor products produce a nicotine-containing vapor without tobacco. The third category, oral smokeless products, includes snus (with tobacco) and nicotine pouches (without tobacco), which are placed between the gum and the cheek or upper lip.
