For a second year in row, INvolve and Yahoo Finance have recognized the work Phillip Morris International (PMI) is doing to create an inclusive and diverse workplace for its employees.
The company’s Senior Vice President, People & Culture, Charles Bendotti has been included on the OUTstanding Ally Executives Role Model List for a second consecutive year.
His passion for creating an inclusive and diverse workplace environment, where everyone can thrive, stems from his experience working across different cultures and communities—from Buenos Aires to Brasilia, Cairo to Kyoto, and Quito to Quebec.
Through his broad experiences, he discovered what it felt like to enter an environment as an “outsider” and then be welcomed. This ultimately prepared him to not only be an ally, but also a better leader.
“My experiences in a diverse array of cultures taught me to listen, ask, and reach out to others to help foster a more inclusive, supportive, and welcoming world for everyone,” said Bendotti.
“To be an effective ally—to any marginalized individual or group—means listening with an open mind and an open heart. In doing so, we learn about others’ lived experiences and needs, which improves our understanding, strengthens our sense of empathy, and empowers us to take meaningful steps to ensure no one is denied that sense of belonging we all crave.”
“I’m honored to be recognized and included on the OUTstanding 50 Ally Executives Role Model List again.”
Nikki Symmons, Content Planner for PMI’s Global Communications team was also recognized for her continued efforts to promote inclusion and diversity within PMI and beyond, with inclusion on the OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders Role Model List for a second year.
Symmons helped establish the company’s first international LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG), STRIPES, creating a safe space where employees can freely engage in open conversations, support, and engage with each other.
“I’m delighted to be included on the OUTstanding LGBTQ+ Future Leaders Role Model List for a second consecutive year,” said Symmons.
“We are building strong community foundations internally, and working with our LGBTQ+ people, supporters, and allies to create a fully inclusive global company. I’m proud that my efforts, as one of the catalysts behind the creation of STRIPES, is having such a positive impact.”
